Event
Ôhe «3rd South Eastern Europe Venture Capital Event» will take place on the 23th of April 2009 at Electra Palace Hotel, 9 Aristotelous Square, Thessaloniki, Greece. This event is the continuation of the first international event «Gate2Growth» as well as of the second international academy «i-techpartner», which have been both co-organized by various institutes in Thessaloniki during 2004 and 2007, with great success.

The «3rd South Eastern Europe Venture Capital Event» is being organized in cooperation with the Annual Technology Innovation International (T.I.I.) Conference (23-24/04/2009), as a «satellite» event.
The event will take place under the aegis of the Ministry Economics and Finance, the Ministry of Macedonia-Thrace and the Region of Central Macedonia.
Co-organizers of this event is the Hellenic Venture Capital Association (HVCA), the Association of Information Technology Companies of Northern Greece (SEPVE), the Urban Research Unit & Peripheral Innovative Organization (URENIO), the South East European Research Center and ÁTLANTIS CONSULTING S.A.
Purpose
  • To bring in contact both Venture Capital companies and South East Europe companies, present and new ones, from traditional and non-traditional economy sectors.
  • To inform and to get the entrepreneurs accustomed to the institution of Venture Capital.
  • To offer opportunities, to develop connections as well as possible future co-operations between entrepreneurs and strategic investors.

Venture Participation
The participation in the event is open to present, as well as new ventures of South East Europe, which posses new, innovative or dynamic products/services and have activities in traditional and non-traditional sectors of the economy. Concerning their participation, these companies should submit their business plan in order to be evaluated, by a committee of specialists. The first six more prevalent business plans, which will gather by the committee the highest score, will be notified to make a presentation during the «3rd South Eastern Europe Venture Capital Event», where the first three will be awarded.
Evaluation Standards
The following criteria will be used for evaluating the business plans and are based on the evaluation methodology of Alexander Innovation Zone :

1. Product / Service Innovation and Competitive Advantage
  • Technology Innovation as a Competitive Advantage.
  • Technology feasibility.
  • Number of products and number of new products - applications.
  • Possibility of maintenance of the competitive advantage based on innovation.
  • Intellectual property, protection and development of know-how / technology.
2. Vision, Strategy and Financial Analysis
  • Expression of company's vision - mission - targets.
  • Target Market (customers' features - competition / sizes).
  • Plan for approaching the target market.
  • Financial activity analysis.
  • Viability achievement - time chart.
  • Investment structure (level, origin of resources and capital ensurance).
  • Financial characterization of activity as "an intense activity of knowledge".
  • Sensitivity analysis (alternative scenarios) and documentation of assumptions which are included in the business plan.
3. Executive Team and Strategic Partnerships
  • Relations, agreements or / and strategic alliances of developmental character.
  • Additional information data.
  • Research team (specialization - experience) and documentation of the ability of achieving the research targets.
  • Management team and documentation of the ability of implementing the strategic plan and achieving the commercial targets.
  • Degree of commitment of the main staff.
  • Total employment positions created in the activity time horizon.
Participation of Business Venture Participations
The members of the Hellenic Venture Capital Association will be invited, along with the Venture Capital companies of North and NorthEastern Europe, as well as those of the Middle East.
Venture Academy
The institution of the Venture Academy will take place on the 22nd of April 2009. The participation will be open to those companies that have submitted their participation and their business plan on time. During the Venture Academy the participants will receive valuable guidance by the staff of the business capital venture and by experienced consultants, concerning their business plan and their presentations. Therefore, this event will actually improve the business plans of the participants, so that they approach with more maturity Venture Capital companies and strategic co-operators in Greece and in the district area.
Bilateral Meetings
During the morning of the 23rd of April bilateral meetings will take place among the Venture Capital Participant Companies and those companies that they will decide to meet. Those meetings, which won't surpass the 30 minute time period, will take place at Electra Palace Hotel and are going to give the opportunity to the businessmen to present their business plan and to answer to a series of specific questions referring to their business plan. The companies that are to be invited will be notified by the organizers until April 14 2009.
